About MeshCore

MeshCore was created in early 2025 and aimed to compete with Meshtastic by relying on more established infrastucture (repeaters vs. companions) as opposed to having client nodes repeat by default. This, coupled with significantly reduced telemetry traffic, helps to lower channel utilization, which subsequently increases message delivery reliability in high-traffic areas of the network. MeshCore is not meant to be an outright replacement for Meshtastic, contrary to what many say. Meshtastic still is markedly superior in places with limited expectations for established infrastucture. However, in places with a higher population density, such as the Chicago metropolitan area, this is less of an issue, so many people are giving MeshCore a try to see what can be achieved!
